Smoothies come in different versions. However, the best form is starting the day with a probiotic smoothie which provides the gut with beneficial bacteria. These healthy bacteria keep our digestive systems balanced and healthy. A win-win!
In this recipe, I have used Kombucha, made from sweetened tea and SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast). The SCOBY provides bacteria and yeast to ferment the sweetened tea.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Kombucha
- 2 cups greens
- 1 ripe medium banana
- 1 cup fresh or frozen berries
Preparation
- Pour the kombucha, next greens, then banana into the blender. Blend for 10-20 seconds.
- When the mixture looks smooth, add in the berries and blend for another 10 seconds or until smooth.
- Consume immediately. Store in the fridge for no more than a day.
***Always choose organic produce when available. This will help you avoid contamination due to pesticides and other genetically modified organisms along with their unpleasant side effects.
